Celebrating 50 Years of Apollo

Microsite UX design, motion graphics, promotional images for social media and marketing | Client: Astronomy and Discover

I designed and built this microsite with the editors of Astronomy and Discover to educate users on the history of the Apollo program.

The microsite funnelled traffic to articles about the Apollo program on Astronomy.com and Discovermagazine.com

To add to the excitement of the program’s history, I incorporated a multi-level parallax hero and motion graphics throughout the site.

We launched a marketing campaign  to promote the microsite. I created ancillary images to support this for:

  • Newsletters
  • Astronomy and Discover’s Facebook and Twitter
  • Astronomy.com and Discovermagazine.com

This project with Texas A&M, National Geographic, and Celestron increased site traffic for Astronomy and Discover magazines’ articles.

Success!

This was the first site I built completely in Webflow. It was a fun challenge and a great way to learn the software.

I wanted to give the hero image a three dimensional sense of distance, so I created a five-layered parallax image to use as the home page’s introduction. Definitely the most challenging aspect of the project, but was fun!
